Spring is here – sunny skies and longer days, time to venture outside and shape up after being stuck inside all winter. No, not just you, but your pet too.
The American Veterinary Medical Association has estimated that nearly 40 percent of the dogs in the U.S. are overweight. This common condition can create a variety of health-related problems, but regular exercise helps animals live healthier and longer lives.
Most experts feel that a 30-minute routine, four times a week, is adequate for a dog of normal health, though daily exercise is better. Jogging, playing fetch or any other activity that will get that canine heart pumping will do the job, but be sure to consult your vet before starting your pet on any exercise routine.
