Golf courses have grown in popularity and become a lifestyle for millions of people – whether as a second home or as a retirement property – and developments have mushroomed.
A recent study by the Longitudes Group, LLC, a research and marketing company that analyzes the spending habits of golfers nationwide, found that lot values on golf courses have a 40 percent premium over other lots in the neighborhood, and golf homes out-perform non-golf home almost every time.
“Up” markets the group cited were Myrtle Beach, S.C, the central Oregon region, east and west of the Cascade Mountains, Park City, Utah, and Vail, Colo. “Down” markets included northern Michigan, Palm Springs, Calif., Reno, Nev., Sarasota, Fla. and Scottsdale, Ariz.
